How to get More out of life For Less
by Kathleen Choo
Much of our modern belief system is geared towards the idea that there is a simple equation: the harder we work and more energy we expend, the greater our success, the more we can get.

So it may seem counter-intuitve that both ancient civilisations and newer medical research agree that regularly alternating our outward efforts with periods of turning inward and doing nothing, in fact enable us to achieve more.

Different cultures have used various methods and techniques for this aim; but the simplest, quickest, and most effective essence of the teachings can be distilled down to gentle mindfulness.
Properly done, the practice deeply rejuvenates our nervous system; conserving and protecting our most precious resource - our health. At the same time, it naturally cultivates a calm and insightful clarity of mind that helps us make wiser, more effective decisions in life, becoming aware of unconscious bad habits and then bulding new habits for success so we can maximise our impact, have more contentment, and prosper in life.

The tools of mindfulness give us breathing room, enabling us to step back from daily pressures and automatic reflex. Using gentle, non-competitive stillness practices can safely release frustration and tension; bringing us the much needed experience of complete rest and relaxtion; building up our internal resources.

In our next article, we'll go into more depth with some simple exercises you can try out for yourself to see their effects.

Stay tuned for how to have more joy, more contentment, more energy; at less cost to your vital resources - your time, your relationships, your health. You can change your approach, doing less, to gain more!
